Tom Kakaire is the Head of Strategic Planning and Development at the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) at Makerere University. With over 18 years of management experience in the NGO sector, particularly in public health, Tom has a strong background in finance and operations. He has played a key role in setting up and managing various departments, including the IDI Grants Management team, which he headed before assuming the full headship in 2015. Tom is responsible for strategic planning, partnership development, and institutional monitoring and evaluation, among other key functions. He is a respected resource for capacity building in grants acquisition and management and has an ongoing interest in developing sustainable business models for the NGO sector. Tom’s expertise and leadership have been instrumental in IDI’s growth and success in addressing global health challenges.
