Richard Ssenono
Ag. Head of Information Services
Richard Ssenono is the Acting Head of the Information Services Department at the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), Makerere University College of Health Sciences. He has over 12 years of experience in information management and ICT for health. Ssenono holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Makerere University, a Post-graduate Diploma in Information Technology from Amity University India, and a Master’s of Information Technology from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
Ssenono is responsible for ICT, software development, knowledge management, data management, and geographic information systems (GIS) at IDI. He leads a strong team of software developers, data managers, IT system engineers, GIS and knowledge management professionals who support over 100 projects within the institute. Ssenono has worked extensively on applying ICT in the health sector, both at IDI and regionally/globally. He trains information literacy skills and provides mentorship to health workers in Uganda and across Africa. Ssenono is also involved with the Centre for Evidence-based Healthcare for Africa (CEBHA) and collaborates with the Ugandan Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
