
Dr. Isaac Lwanga
Acting Head of Prevention, Care and Treatment
Dr. Isaac Lwanga is the Head of the Prevention, Care and Treatment Department of the Infectious Diseases Institute. A physician by training with special interest in infectious diseases, he has over 15 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS clinical care and management. He has worked as a senior clinician with a number of other HIV/AIDS care-providing institutions including The Aids Support Organization (TASO) and the National Referral Hospital of Mulago in Kampala Uganda.
He has special interest in training and clinical mentoring of various cadres of health providers. Through his excellent leadership and managerial skills, he has spearheaded the design and the implementation of some of the best innovative HIV care models at IDI which include TB/HIV integrated management and geriatric HIV care services.
