IDI at National House-to-House Polio Immunization Campaign Launch

The Infectious Diseases Institute was part of the National House-to-house Polio Immunization campaign launch today presided over by the State Minister of Health, Hon. Hanifa Kawooya, at Wakiso HCIV. #KeepUgandaPolioFree

IDI through its Kampala Health Project was invited to the ceremony in recognition of its support to the district and as one of the leading implementing health partners. IDI is committed to leveraging its established capacity and platforms to support the Ministry of Health’s enhanced programming.

“In August 2021, Polio was declared a health public threat in Uganda. We have set a target of immunizing 8.7 million infants nationwide and we will ensure that this goal is reached.” Hon. Hanifa Kawooya said.

Key stakeholders including the Wakiso district leadership, religious leaders, and implementing partner representatives including CDC Atlanta, CDC Uganda, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, World Health Organization, and other Ministry of health dignitaries graced the occasion.
