Jeremiah Chakaya

Dr. Jeremiah Chakaya is a renowned infectious disease expert and public health leader. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Kenya Association for the Prevention of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) in Kampala, Uganda.

Dr. Chakaya has over 25 years of experience in infectious disease research, treatment, and prevention. His areas of expertise include HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and emerging infectious diseases. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and serves on the editorial boards of several international health publications.

Prior to joining IDI, Dr. Chakaya held leadership positions at the World Health Organization and the Kenya Medical Research Institute. He is a member of several professional societies including the International AIDS Society and the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.

Dr. Chakaya received his medical degree from the University of Nairobi and completed his infectious disease fellowship at the University of Washington. He is passionate about building research and clinical capacity to address the infectious disease burden in sub-Saharan Africa.
