Key Duties and Responsibilities • Assist patients who need to go for investigations like x-rays, ultrasounds or laboratory tests. • Assist very sick patients who are returning to the clinic to navigate the clinical process smoothly. • Assist in the organization and arranging of study rooms and offices. • Transportation of samples to the lab for testing and picking up of results. • Filing of study related documentation • Any other duties (within reason) that may be assigned by Study Coordinator.

The Senior Project Officer will be the technical point of contact for program implementation, ensuring adherence to deliverables and timelines. This role involves writing technical reports, monitoring KPIs, and facilitating stakeholder engagements. A bilingual candidate (French and English) is preferred to support IDI's regionalization strategy.
IDI received a five-year (Oct 2021 – Oct 2026) transition award entitled USAID Local Partner Health Services-TB Activity. The purpose of the award is to increase TB case detection and treatment success in Uganda to 90% of all cases and thus contribute to the reduction of Uganda’s TB burden by 2026. IDI works through technical assistance to the Ministry of Health’s National TB & Leprosy Program (NTLP), the three urban districts of Kampala, Mukono, Wakiso, all districts in the Karamoja Region, and Regional Referral Hospitals to increase the availability, accessibility, and utilization of integrated TB, TB/HIV and MDR-TB services.
The Statistician shall primarily be responsible for compiling and analyzing programmatic data generated in the focus districts of the USAID LPHS TB Activity. About the ACE
In 2019, the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), in collaboration with Makerere University’s Colleges of Computing & Health Sciences and the Office of Cyber Infrastructure and Computational Biology at the United States' National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), established the African Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics & Data-Intensive Sciences (ACE) in Uganda. This center is one of only two such facilities on the African continent, the other being located in Mali. The ACE operates under IDI's research program, one of six core programs within the institute. The district DREAMS liaison’s officer main responsibility will be to engage Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYWs) in the specific district in order to identify HIV predisposing factors unique to them and bring these to the attention of the implementing partners DREAMS technical team. They will also provide guidance on implementation modalities that are proposed by the AGYWs in a bid to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS among them. The DREAMS champion will further participate in advocacy engagements by working with communities to protect AGYWs and promote DREAMS programming to other district AGYW stakeholder including Local government authorities for possible adoption
The position holder will work closely with the facility-based teams to integrate all care and treatment services along the HIV continuum for all sub-populations including adults, paediatrics, adolescents, pregnant and breastfeeding women, HIV-exposed infants, key and priority populations. The Infectious Diseases Institute is targeting young investigators with experience in research to support starting their career as independent investigators.
We aim to train one research fellow/post doc to transition to independent investigator by identifying a training grant opportunity and being paired with an international collaborator and local mentors (senior scientists at IDI). The training program will include mentorship full time stipend, and a lumpsum for research funds or formal training (course to apply to). The expected outcome of the training is a grant proposal through IDI in areas which need to be prioritized to end the HIV epidemic by 2030 or priority areas of the IDI strategic plan
The post-doc fellow is expected during the 12-month period to work on a grant proposal that is supported by previous data that the applicant has or aims to access and analyze in the first three months of the fellowship.
