General Summary

Provides microbiology sample processing and data entry support and mentoring capacity. Works in the Data Entry and Processing areas to ensure that the microbiology samples received and processed have the accompanying Lab requisitions entered in a timely manner. Performs bacteriology, mycobacteriology as well as manual and automated culture and sensitivity tests. Demonstrates skill and knowledge on all laboratory test systems in a clinical microbiology unit. Follows Good Laboratory Practices and quality requirements of the Core Lab

Key Responsibilities

Technical

  1. Performs routine benchwork in the Microbiology unit according to current protocols, procedures and quality assurance requirements.
  2. Performs freezer sample storage and retrieval according to current protocols.
  3. Performs reagent preparation and equipment maintenance according to training and assignment.
  4. Performs bacteriology, mycobacteriology as well as manual and automated culture and sensitivity tests according to current protocols, procedures and quality assurance requirements.
  5. Ensuring compliance to GCLP and all regulatory requirements
  6. Demonstrates skill and knowledge on all laboratory testing systems in a clinical Microbiology unit.
  7. Maintains a high level of precision and accuracy for all work performed.
  8. Supports QI program by regular worksheet reviews, SOP reviews, performing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual maintenance of laboratory equipment as required in a timely manner and provide input as required for updating laboratory procedures and procedure manual.
  9. Responds to technical and logistical problems encountered in the laboratory in a timely and appropriate manner.
  10. Ensure proper stock management to minimize stock outs and expiries in the Microbiology unit.
  11. Ensures that waste disposed of is made safe prior to incineration.
  12. Provide monthly reports on the performance of the microbiology unit on all active studies, achievements, challenges and improvement plans
  13. Provides input as required for updating laboratory procedures and procedure manuals.
  14. Prepares lab samples for shipment as needed.
  15. Meets or exceeds continuing education requirements for position.

Support

  1. Assist with implementation of new study protocols, new instrumentation, new methodology and training as needed.
  2. Assists with training and problems solving as needed.

Data Entry

  1. Performs data entry of requisitions, results and storage requirements using Oracle LIS and LDMS.
  2. Files laboratory source documents.
  3. Provides electronic transfer of data as needed.

Safety

  1. Follows all laboratory procedures including safety guidelines, the use of personal protective equipment and awareness of blood-borne pathogens.
  2. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

Academic Qualifications

  • A degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Medical Laboratory Sciences

  1. Excellent knowledge in micro-organism culture, isolation, detection, reporting and use of microbial sensitivity methods.
  2. Experience in developing and implementing technical SOPs relevant to the clinical microbiology work.
  3. Demonstrates a cooperative attitude in relationships with co-workers and other personnel.

Position Overview

A Medical Doctor specializing in Obstetrics and Gynaecology will oversee the clinical aspects of data collection, ensuring the quality, accuracy, and compliance of obstetrics and gynaecology data for the Project. This role involves direct coordination with the clinical teams, radiologists, and data collection staff to manage the project's data-related implementation and adhere to ethical and regulatory standards.

The Fleet Management assistant is a member of the fleet section within the operation section under the finance and administration department. The overarching task of the fleet management assistant is to support the fleet management officer in fleet-related activities, inventory control, and insurance and deputize in the officer's absence.

The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician is a member of the Operations section under the finance and administration department He/she will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC-R) systems at all times. He/she will also oversee related works of contracted works to outside contractors - ensuring that their work is up to the required quality and standard.

  • Participate in protocol training and any required trainings related Human Subjects Protection (HSP) and Good Clinical Practices (GCP).

The Social economic Strengthening Assistant is responsible for supporting the IDI MWP DREAMS Program on economic strengthening in line with the Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) model.  This includes, supporting Local Market Assessments, recruitment of out of school eligible AGYW   for Vocational skilling (Basic Social economic approaches and the Apprenticeship training), monitoring and supporting AGYW savings groups, provision of start-up kits, business support and linkage to employment.
