General Summary

General Summary:

The  Study Nurse will be responsible for site implementation of Drones study. He/She will work together with the staff at Kalangala field Office, to screen, consent, enroll, and conduct study procedures and must be a resident of Kalangala Island. The Study Nurse will perform high level confidentiality whilst providing study information to patients without discrimination and refer patients for further counseling, care or for social support services to government of Uganda designated health facilities where need arises.

 

 

Qualification Requirements 

  • Qualified and registered or certified Nurse/Midwife from a recognized institution.
  • Should be registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwifes’ Council
  • At least five months’ experience in clinical work at Health Centre level
  • Experience in data collection using electronic devices
  • Experience working at Kalangala Island Health centres/facilities

 

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

The study Nurse will be required to:

  • Participate in screening, consenting and enrolment potential study participants.
  • Lead role in ensuring study participants are taken through the informed consent as per study protocol.
  • Register study participants on the screening and enrolment log
  • Participate in completing CRFs and other documentation related to the drone study
  • Participate in routine QC/QA procedures for study documents
  • Attend study meetings on a bi-weekly basis
  • Participate as a full member of the Academy Staff team, including attending staff meetings.
  • Provide a full range of counseling & Nursing services to patients to ensure adherence to ART
  • Identify patient problems and document pertinent information
  • Assist patients in formulating plans for addressing patient concerns.
  • Refer patients for further clinical and psychosocial care.
  • Maintain updated study regulatory documents as par IDI regulatory guidelines
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Complete Good Clinical Practice and Human Subject Protection course
  • Participate in collecting data on remote islands at various landing sites in Kalangala

Academic Qualifications

  • • Qualified registered or certified Nurse/Midwife from a recognized institution
  • • Should be registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwifes’ Council

Person Specification

Knowledge, Experience and Skills  

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Should be fluent in English, Luganda
  • Use of electronic data collection tools- tablets, Computers, Phones
  • Should be a highly motivated person and should be able to work under minimal supervision
  • Competent in the use of standard Microsoft office
  • Knowledge of mobile Health is an added advantage
  • Ability to work in a team but also work independently
  • Flexibility to work in remote islands of Kalangala
  • Must be able to multitask
  • Ability to or willingness to learn swimming
  • Research experience will be an added advantage
