General Summary

We are hiring a VR Developer with expertise in Unity, API integration, and backend development to build an interactive protein visualization tool. The ideal candidate will work on integrating AlphaFold 3 API, handling PDB data, and optimizing real-time 3D visualization in VR. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and a passion for blending technology with scientific research. 

Key Responsibilities

1. Set up the Unity XR environment, integrate the AlphaFold 3 API, and develop a seamless workflow for fetching and processing PDB files. 
2. Implement PDB file parsing, extract molecular structures, and optimize data handling for smooth VR performance. 
3. Develop 3D visualization of protein structures with interactive tools like zoom, rotate, and highlighting. 
4. Ensure efficient data retrieval, caching, and UI responsiveness for handling large datasets. 
5. Conduct thorough testing, write clear documentation, and create user guides for researchers

Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science

Person Specification

Technical Skills: 

1. Proficiency in Unity and unreal game engines  
2. C# and C++ programming languages 
3. Experience with REST APIs, JSON data handling, and backend workflows. 
4. Knowledge of PDB file structures, molecular visualization.

Soft Skills: 

1. Strong problem-solving and debugging skills. 
2. Ability to work independently and manage complex workflows. 
3. Excellent documentation and communication skills. 

Experience & Education: 

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering (or equivalent experience). 
2. Prior experience in VR development, 3D visualization, or game development is preferred.

In this role, the designer will collaborate closely with VR developers to design interactive elements, optimize user workflows, and ensure a seamless VR experience. The designs will play a key role in making complex scientific data engaging and accessible within a virtual environment. 

Locum Study Midwife (2)

The Locum Study Midwife will support implementation of the Maternal Ultrasound Observational Study for Machine Learning Model Training study (AI US Scan study) being implemented at Kawempe National Referral Hospital. She will work together with the study team at the hospital to screen, obtain informed consent, enrol participants and conduct study procedures, in order to meet the study recruitment targets. The Locum Study midwife will ensure high level confidentiality and adherence to international and national GCP guidelines whilst providing care to the study participants.
