General Summary

The Hub rider will ensure timely transportation of lab commodities, samples and results while ensuring privacy and confidentiality of the patients’ details. He/she will ensure proper utilization of the project motorcycle.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect samples from the facilities and deliver them to the hub and/or GeneXpert/TrueNAT/LAMP sites timely
  • Maintain utmost confidentiality and protection of client results and any other related information
  • Ensure safety and security of clients ‘samples during transportation to the lab
  • Keep the motorbike and other equipment including safety gear and carrying box well maintained, safe and secure
  • Maintain comprehensive records of samples collected, results picked and delivered, bike maintenance/repairs and daily movements made.
  • Work with the hub coordinator and District Lab focal persons to ensure timely distribution of EQA samples
  • Communicate (phone or physical) immediately to the hub coordinator in case of inability to move to the peripheral facilities or if anything happens that interferes with sample transportation
  • Prepare and submit weekly reports to the hub coordinator
  • Always keep a copy of a valid riders ‘permit as guided by the traffic and road safety Act of Uganda
  • Keep the motorcycle used in good roadworthy condition
  • Provide accurate documentation as part of the accountability of the fuel used and any repair done monthly

Academic Qualifications

  • Uganda Certificate of Education with credit in English)

  • Experience working Human biological triple packaging and transport
  • Excellent communication and team skills
  • Ability to use sample tracking smartphones is an added advantage

The DLO will support TB logistics management in districts covered by the cluster office in line with MoH standards. S/he will ensure close monitoring of TB commodities for optimal stock level, quality of drugs, forecasting, distribution and good storage practices.

 

The District Laboratory specialist will be responsible for implementing laboratory strengthening activities of the USAID LPHS-TB Activity in Mukono, Wakiso and Kampala. S/he will jointly work with the district/division health leadership to provide technical support for laboratory services at supported health facilities in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health laboratory services structures to ensure delivery of quality TB lab services.

The Medical Officer under the USAID LPHS-TB Activity will ensure delivery of quality TB care and treatment services to clients by providing technical and leadership support to health facility teams.

The Data Officer will support health facilities and district teams to ensure accurate, complete, and timely collection, reporting, and use of TB and urban health data in line with national HMIS guidelines and project requirements. The role focuses on strengthening routine and digital reporting systems, including HMIS tools, DHIS2, and the electronic Case-Based Surveillance System (eCBSS). Under the supervision of the MEL Specialist, the Data Officer will mentor facility staff in data documentation and reporting, support routine reporting cycles, maintain project trackers, and contribute to data entry, cleaning, analysis, and use for performance monitoring and quality improvement across project-supported sites.
