Regional QI and VMMC Coordinator (1)

General Summary

The Regional VMMC& QI coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Program and Implementation of quality improvement interventions within the West Nile HIV Comprehensive project services. This position will provide support for achievement of the overall VMMC and QI project outcomes related to promoting prevention of HIV through Safe Male Circumcision along with other biomedical HIV prevention interventions.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to;

  • Participating in the design, implementation and monitoring of VMMC activities in supported Public facilities in line with MoH and PEPFAR guidelines.
  • Implement VMMC CQI, routine site team mentorship, Adverse event management and identification of VMMC staff capacity building needs.
  • Coordinate technical support with CDC above site QI partners, conduct targeted site support and supervision and, ensure quality assurance (to MoH, PEPFAR, WHO guidelines) for VMMC service provision in all facilities through CQI activities such as coaching and Data Quality Assessments (DQAs).
  • Contribute to program (ad-hoc, monthly, quarterly, semi- annual and annual) reports by consolidating regional/district/site specific VMMC coverage reports.
  • Actively participate in technical review and planning meetings with program stakeholders especially in regard to HIV prevention, care and treatment programs.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that all the project’s regional targets are met as per agreed standards.
  • Support Planning, coordination and efficient project resources management in line with ensuring that all the resources are well utilized.
  • Spear head technical support supervision of VMMC project teams across the region
  • Ensure that all regional VMMC reports are completed accurately and timely submitted
  • Participate in project meetings and other activities as specified by supervisor from time to time.
  • Work through the Regional district lead programming coordinator to ensure existence of cordial relationships with all the stakeholders
  • Any other duties as may be reaonably assigned.

Academic Qualification

  • A bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery.
  • A post graduate training in project planning and management or public health sciences or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • Individuals with other relevant qualifications but required experience will be considered.
  • Training and certification for SMC from a recognized MoH institution (RHSP, Walter Reed) is essential

Specific Experience

  • At least three years’ experience in coordinating complex development projects in the health field, preferably in the HIV/AIDS field.
  • At least two years of experience managing technical teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing effective community-based activities; experience developing relationships with community partners.
  • Excellent writing, analytical and oral presentation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including the use of word processing projects, presentation software, email, databases and spread sheets.
  • Prior experience managing/implementing VMMC programs will be an added advantage.

Person Specification

  • Up to date registration with the licencing health professionals' council
  • At least three years’ experience in coordinating complex development projects in the health field, preferably in the HIV/AIDS field.
  • At least two years of experience managing technical teams.
