Umar Kakumba
Member
Umar Kakumba is an accomplished academic and administrator who currently serves as the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Makerere University in Uganda. He holds a PhD in Public Affairs from the University of Pretoria in South Africa and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Wolfson College, Cambridge in the UK.
Kakumba has spent the majority of his career at Makerere University, rising to the rank of Associate Professor and serving as the Dean of the College of Business and Management Sciences for eight years. He is a member of the University’s Senate and Council, and has been involved in various international programmemes and research initiatives, including the Cambridge-Africa Partnership for Research Excellence (CAPREx) project.
Kakumba is known for his expertise in areas such as public sector management, leadership, public policy, and organizational behavior. He has published extensively in internationally accredited journals and has served as an external examiner and visiting professor at several universities in Africa.
