The library possesses both print and full text electronic resources which are accessible online within the IDI intranet through an electronic library system using KOHA. The collection mainly covers HIV/AIDS and other related infectious diseases. IDI established the library with the objective of strengthening the institute’s information base regarding HIV/AIDS and related infectious diseases, with the objective of gathering, organizing and making accessible relevant and up to date information which supports the institute’s mission, with the objective of providing a pleasant environment for studying, and finally with the objective of establishing networks with other libraries offering related services.
Traditional Library Services Offered
Borrowing services, Literature search services, Access to Newspapers, Computer & Internet Access, Selective dissemination of information (SDI), Current awareness services, Inter Library loan services, photocopying and scanning services.
Library Specialized Trainings
Evidence based medicine literature search, reference management training using Endnote, Zotero and Refworks aimed at helping researchers easily gather, manage, store and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies.
In addition we offer access to online databases including HINARI, UpToDate, Embase, Scopus, Popline, Eldis, Clinical Evidence, TRIP database, UNAIDS/WHO HIV/AIDS online database, Blackwell-Synergy, The Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar among others.
