Richard Orama is a statistician by profession, holding a Master of Statistics degree, with a bias in Computing. Richard is the Head of the Information Services (IS) Department at IDI – where he is responsible for ICT, Software Development, Knowledge Management, Data Management and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The IS department boasts of a strong team of Software Developers, Data Managers, IT System Engineers, GIS and Knowledge Management professionals.
Richard’s main area of interest is systems automation and business intelligence, where he has developed various systems aimed at facilitating internal processes at the institute, as well as for partner organizations. Richard works very closely with local and international health partners, and provides leadership in technical backstopping across IDI sites, both within Kampala and upcountry, covering all project and research study sites.
Prior to joining IDI, Richard worked in both private and public sector, including lecturing at Makerere University Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics. Richard is up to date in keeping with latest mathematical/computing developments in the health domain.
