Dr. Conrad Muzoora
Dr. Conrad Muzoora, a Senior Lecturer at MUST is a leading HIV physician-scientist with formal training in clinical research. He holds a masters degree in internal medicine (MMED) from MUST and a certificate of Advanced Training in Clinical Research (ATCR) at University of California San Francisco. He has been involved in HIV care for the last 18 years with special interest in tuberculosis and cryptococol meningitis. He jointly runs the TB HIV clinic and the infectious disease unit of the Medical ward at Mbarara regional referral hospital. His main research goals have been in the improving the treatment of Tuberculosis especially in HIV infected patients and the improvement of treatment for HIV associated cryptococol meningitis. He has conducted four international multicenter clinical trials on cryptococcal meningitis, three international multicenter clinical trials on Tuberculosis and several other projects in HIV, TB and NCDs. As a result of his expertise, he was invited as by the World Health Organisation to participate in the development of the guidelines for management of Cryptococol meningitis in 2011. He has since published over 100 papers in the above areas and others.
