Aida Kawuma Tusiime trained as a pharmacist at Makerere University, College of Health Sciences where she also obtained a Master’s degree in pharmacology. She holds a PhD in pharmacometrics from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and is now a post-doctoral research fellow at the Infectious Disease Institute, Makerere University. She has hands-on clinical research experience over several years as a study pharmacist, coordinator, and project manager. She is passionate about training and has several years of carrying out community-based medical education. Her research interests include safe and effective use of medication, the inclusion of neglected populations in clinical research and the use of mathematical modelling and simulation techniques to optimize the treatment of infectious diseases and to improve clinical trial design. She lives in Kampala with her husband and three adorable sons.
