PANELISTS

Dr. Stephen Okoboi, MPH, MSc Health Economist Student, Ph.D.
Stephen is a recipient of the prestigious USA National Institute of Health K43 Emerging Global Leader award (2023-2028), Deputy Head of the Research Department, Senior Research Administrator, and an Epidemiologist at the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI). He completed a 12-month Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He also received the Thanzi Programme MSc Health Economics Studentships (2023-2026) at the University of York, UK. He is a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on several studies at IDI. Together with the research office team, manages over 100 research projects annually and has supported the building and strengthening of research systems and processes that have consistently supported the implementation of high-quality research, has inspired colleagues through meaningful vision sharing, mentorship, coaching, supported the development of research Standard Operating Procedures for clinical trials, policies and uses a regulatory framework and resource shared model that facilitates different research projects management and implementation with minimal resources. Before joining IDI, he worked with TASO, the largest HIV care organization in sub-Saharan Africa, for eight years. He managed different research projects where he gained extensive research leadership, administration, and contract management skills.
