Project Milestones
IDI’s active projects are working to reduce the impact of a range of infectious diseases, including TB, HIV/AIDS, malaria, to COVID-19. Our experience with infectious disease outbreaks – such as Ebola and COVID-19 – has demonstrated that epidemics and pandemics require ongoing and sustained attention, from initial response to recovery. IDI-led projects quickly adapted to help countries in the region respond to the perennial threat of pandemic influenza and other respiratory diseases, novel diseases, and antimicrobial resistance, all of which are on the rise. We work with governments, health facilities and within communities to strengthen infection prevention and control; prepare health care providers to address health issues as they arise; provide critical health and safety equipment; and support governments and the private sector to distribute lifesaving immunizations. For example:
- Strengthening Partnerships for Preparedness and Response in Uganda (IHR)
- Fleming Fund Country Grants
- Saving Lives and Livelihoods Program (Implementation Science)
- Fast Tracking implementation of the National Action Plan for Health Security
- Epidemic Ready Primary Health Care (EPRHC)
- National Integrated Sentinel Surveillance (NISS): Acute Febrile Illness Surveillance
- Strengthening National Surveillance Systems for Antimicrobial Resistance Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI) and IPC
- Active Prevention and Treatment of Maternal Sepsis (APT-Sepsis)
- Yellow Fever Mass Vaccination Campaign (YVMVC)
- Austere Environments Consortium for Enhanced Sepsis Outcomes (ACESO)
- COVID-19 Vaccination Action Network (VAN)
- Enhanced Gonococcal Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance (EGASP)
- 7-1-7 Timeliness and Enhanced Situational Awareness (ESA)
- Role of leptospirosis and rickettsiosis in acute undifferentiated fever patients in Uganda (SPIRT-study)
- Current and prior viral zoonotic infections among adults admitted with acute febrile illness in Northern and Central Uganda (AFI-Pfizer)
- COVID-19 Test and Treat Implementation
- Vaccine Data Co-Lab, part of Better Futures Co-Lab
- Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in Health Care Facilities
