General Summary

The Postmortem Study aims to improve understanding of disease pathogenesis and lead to improved treatment strategies.  In order, to strengthen support in  the areas of pathology-research and practice, the Autopsy-CM study under IDI-Meningitis studies seeks to build capacity for two residents in 2nd-year pathology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform autopsy procedures
  • Process fresh tissue samples for flow cytometry
  • Harvest and prepare tissue banks for histopathology and storage
  • Compile autopsy reports. Preferable Year 2 MMed residents are selected for this role to provide opportunities for them to learn and conduct research projects as part of their trainin

Academic Qualifications

  • Residence MMED Pathology, second year of academic study, Makerere University.

Person Specification

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details   
  • Willingness to learn and conduct research projects as part of the training
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision while functioning as a good team player

Position Overview

The Research Assistants will support the dentistry antimicrobial stewardship research activities. This position involves supporting administrative roles, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of research findings.

The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, possesses strong research skills, and should have some experience in implementing antimicrobial resistance and stewardship projects with skills in improving AMS practices related to antimicrobial use in dental care.
