Barbara Castelnuovo is an Italian Uganda-based clinical researcher. She is a specialist in Infectious Diseases trained at the University of Milan, with a PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of Antwerp. She has worked at the Infectious Diseases Institute since 2004. She is currently the Head of the Research Department.
Since 2008 she has designed and implemented several observational cohorts at IDI, including a cohort of naïve patients starting ART in the early phase of ART scale up, a cohort of 1000 patients in their second decade of ART, a large TB-HIV cohort with a PK component, and a cohort of HIV positive patients aged 60 years and above.
She has also participated in many Clinical Trials as Investigator and Principal Investigator and mentored/supervised several master and PhD scholars
