My experience at the IDI- Uganda was nothing short of extraordinary. The curriculum was designed with rigor and excellent practical training that put me in a position to confidently embrace my two week stints at IDI. With the encouragement of outstanding IDI faculty, I found new interests in the spheres of practical experience in some of the novel techniques used to diagnose opportunities infections in PLWHIV and have since explored various ways to use this knowledge to strengthen diagnostic skills among laboratory workers in order to mitigate the morbidity from such diseases. Although I cannot know what new adventures and learning opportunities await, I am confident that the experiences and foundations I obtained from IDI program have helped to place me on a promising trajectory.
