Official Establishment of the Community Pharmacy Refill Program Under the D-PCT Program

On 21st April 2021, the team from The Academy for Innovation and PCT program under IDI led by Dr. Rosalind Ratanshi and Dr. Isaac Lwanga respectively met with Eco pharm Limited management team led by Mr. Muyinda Nathan the General manager to officially establish the partnership that will serve to enable clients to receive their ARV refills at designated Eco Pharmacy branches in Kampala, Under the Digital PCT (D-PCT) program. This partnership has been funded by FCDO through the COVID ACTION grant.

Under this partnership, IDI will leverage its existing digital Technologies, Call For Life™, to offer continuous adherence, symptom reporting, and appointment reminders to clients. A web-based system ART ACCESS™ will also be deployed at the respective pharmacies to enable quick and real-time clinical monitoring of clients and stock management.

“As IDI and PCT, in particular, we are glad and ready to work with Eco pharm to put across our aspirations to provide a comprehensive package in HIV treatment and prevention and also push beyond HIV to explore other opportunities,” Dr. Lwanga Isaac said.

“There is a test in pushing the system countrywide. We are working closely with the Ministry of Health, CDC, USAID, and PEPFAR to push this initiative” Dr. Rosalind Ratanshi said.

Dr. Rosalind handed over a tablet and MIFI to Mr. Muyinda to support Art Access™ activities at one of the Eco pharm branches.
